本作品開始於一段源遠流長的引子，上低音號獨奏以平靜的稍快板唱出綿長而帶有憂愁色彩的旋律，彷彿引領觀眾進入戰士的沉思之中；倏然，音樂急轉直下，進入充滿活力的快板，樂團伴奏以精巧的運舌營造出性格強烈的主題，充滿戰鬥意像的獨奏加入，最後以俐落而果決的風格結束。
本作品可供上低音號獨奏或二聲部重奏，並可依獨奏者程度自由選用一級或二級版本演奏，樂譜包含管樂團與鋼琴伴奏譜(鋼琴伴奏譜可單獨購買)，具有高度演奏彈性，增進上低音號初學者的學習動機與成就感。
 
The piece starts from a calm introduction. A nostalgic and mournful melody is played by euphonium, leading the audience entering the meditation of a warrior. Suddenly, the music enters a vivace passage with well-articulated accompany, which brings out a theme with strong character. The solo reveals a more powerful and martial style, ending with a sharp and rather fast coda. The solo and duet with Grade 1 and 2 version can be chosen depends on the level of players. It provides flexibility for the performance, increasing the learning motivation and the sense of achievement for beginners.
