《美麗的旗幟》是葉樹涵老師在1984年3月在巴黎留學時，一週內埋首於巴黎音樂院的琴房內所譜出的一首進行曲。當時作為異國學子，葉樹涵感受到國家的重要，卻因缺乏正式邦交關係，導致我國國旗不被承認，因而寫了這首作品。手法上，以黃自的國旗歌為基本旋律，由小號首先主奏出第一主題，是典型的進行曲主題，小號主奏的旋律氣宇軒昂，充分表現出高音銅管特性；第二主題以國人所熟悉的國旗歌作為主體，在第一主題旋律的陪襯烘托下，更顯其非凡性格。AB兩段接續反覆，再加上過門及尾奏，本作品實為一首主題明顯，結構方正的進行曲佳作。
 
The march ‘Le Beaux Drapeaux’ was composed when Ye Shuhan was studying in Paris in March 1984. In the practice room of the Paris Conservatory, he spent a week working hard to write a march. As a foreigner, he felt the importance of the country at the time. Due to the lack of diplomatic relationships between Taiwan and France, the national flag is not recognized. Therefore, this "beautiful flag" was written with the national flag anthem of Huang Zi as the basic melody. Trumpet solo plays the typical march in the first theme. The melody of the leading trumpet is full of enthusiastic spirit, fully expressed the character of the instrument. The second theme uses the chord structure of the national flag anthem. With the decoration of the first theme melody, the second theme appears more vivid. With the repetition of both theme plus the bridge and coda, it is a marching masterpiece with symmetric structure and characteristic theme.
