《龍船調》最早由土家族的民歌演變而來，土家族是一支擁有千年歷史的古老民族，主要居住在雲貴高原東端，使用土家語；曲調源自於土家族過年時期「玩燈」的習俗，是一種巫儺文化，目的在於打鬼驅邪，後來演變為節慶時節唱歌跳舞的活動，而此類活動進行時所傳唱的歌謠，即是「燈歌」，龍船調即屬其中最為知名的一首燈歌，傳唱至今。此版本由日本作曲家朴守賢改編為靈活編制演奏，以五個聲部加上打擊樂器，使各種人數、類型之器樂合奏形式，皆能發揮本作品最佳演奏效果，樂曲開始於一段空靈的序奏，隨之接著以熱鬧而輕快的進行曲風格演奏出年節歡欣的氣氛。
 
“Dragon Boat Song” is originated from the folk tune of Tujia People. Tujia culture can be traced back to a thousand years ago, mainly inhabit in the east end of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, speak Tujia language. During the New Year's Festival, Tujia people still preserve a custom called "Lantern Play", which was originally a witchcraft of exorcism, later become a part of the celebration of new year. The song during the festival is called "Lantern Song". Dragon Boat Melody is one of the most famous thus inherited until nowadays. The piece is arranged by Japanese composer PARK Soo-Hyun into flexible band with 5 parts and percussion instruments. Begin with an elegant introduction, the music is followed by a light and lively march, portraying the joyfulness of festival, which can be played by various numbers of players and instrumentation.
